About the QSH Producer Manual
The QSH Producer Manual is intended to help you implement Good Production Practices (GPPs) and a HACCP-based program on your farm. Because its content is nationally standardized, it is the publication “of record” on program components and processes. Trainers in your workshop and other industry people involved in Quality Starts Here will take
you through it.
The QSH Producer Manual is organized into sections that focus on the essential components of a safe meat production process. These include:
-
an overview of the program – the issues, origins, concepts, definitions and procedures
-
hazards common to all beef cattle operations in Canada
-
a checklist of Good Production Practices
-
a description of Standard Operating Procedures relating to who does what and when for:
- animal health
- feeding
- receiving and shipping
- pest control, and
- bio-security
-
sample record-keeping forms and a list of educational resources.
